Originally opened in 1988, during the year of Australia’s bicentenary celebrations, the Sydney Aquarium is one of the largest aquariums in the world. Boasting not only a huge variety of underwater species, the aquarium is also home to over 6,000 individual fish!
Containing over 2.6 million litres of water, the Sydney Aquarium is home to underwater species from the Southern and Northern Rivers of Australia and the Southern and Northern Oceans.
The aquarium houses several large walk-through glass tunnels and these assist to form a 'fish eye view' of the underwater world. Visitors to the aquarium can come up close to the resident sharks, sting rays, crocodiles and seals without getting wet! |
